Jim Shampine was an infamous racecar driver at Oswego Speedway. He revolutionized the way the Super-Modified racecars are run today. People said he was before his time, perhaps he was. Unlike my father, I did not have the privilege of knowing him , since he died in 1981 and I was born in 1989.

This is Jim Shampine, next to his rear engine car, which was banned from Oswego Speedway because it was to fast, (bottom) and his car with the engine to the side, which is the way today's Super-Modified looks like (above.)
